On March 18th, 2019 the world shut down due to Covid, and all my performances and live teaching ceased. On the 3rd day of Covid, it really hit me that Musicians perform. If I can no longer be an active musician, I will become an instrument maker. This I can do from my home, alone, until the world of music returns. It was a learning project; challenging but extremely rewarding. Glad you are here. Thanks for taking a look.

The Inaugural Dove Marimba Competition!
Our first event is June 30, 2022 at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, hosted by DMV Percussion Academy. Dove Drum Rental will be giving away one 4.3 octave Marimba and Vic Firth mallets to a young gifted student who wins the Dove Marimba Competition this year. Each year there will be a new commission of a brand new solo Marimba composition for the Dove Marimba Competition.
Barry Dove is a tenured member of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Lyric Opera Orchestra, Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra; Dove Drum Rental, LLC supplies orchestras, universities, theaters, and students in the Mid-Atlantic region. Founding member of Global Percussion Trio. Percussion instructor at Loyola University and has endorsements with Black Swamp Percussion, LP Percussion, Vic Firth, and Zildjan.
